Film of the Week: The Orion Gene by Jesse Malcolm Sweet

‘The Orion Gene’ comes from Jesse Malcolm Sweet and Kino 00 – the ground zero of the Kino Movement in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Sweet creates a post apocalyptic world that feels complete (rather than, say, setting an entire post apocalyptic film in a shed or a living room). The rounded feel is thanks to superb locations, design, a touch of computer effects, but the masterful creation of tone. There is also a great example of use of light to create tension.

The film is worth a look to think about how to create consistent tone in your next short film.
