Film of the Week: ‘Slash’ by Melodie Grumberg

“Slash” is a simple but well executed film, relying on visuals and performances, as opposed to dialogue or an extensive narrative. Directed by Melodie Grumberg, a filmmaker who has made a name for herself at Kino Kabarets around the world, including Sydney, and was formerly part of Kino Paname (Paris).
Grumberg has a wafty, quirky aesthetic and a vivid visual palette, and her storytelling varies between delving into the fears of the human psyche, to the humorous depictions of every day life. Her cinematic voice is European at heart, however theĀ stories transcend location. Check out the rest of Grumberg’s films on her Vimeo channel.
